DESCRIPTION
This white tie waistcoat bears no labels, but certain conclusions can nevertheless be drawn from a careful examination. It was most likely bespoke tailored in Sweden during the first decades of the 20th century. It is made from off-white corded cotton piqué, a fabric commonly used for formal waistcoats during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
The waistcoat features a shawl collar and fastens with four mother-of-peal buttons at the front. It has two front pockets, one on each side. At the back is an adjustment buckle for altering the fit at the waist.
The waistcoat is virtually free from any damage. There are, however, a number of areas of discolouration. A few are on the inside and therefore not visible when the waistcoat is worn, while a couple are visible on the exterior. It is possible that these stains could become less noticeable with further cleaning, although this is not something we can guarantee. Please examine the photographs carefully and form your own assessment of the condition. All stains have been carefully documented in the photographs.
SIZE
The waistcoat corresponds approximately to a modern EU 50 (UK/US 40). The waistcoat has been shortened at some point in its life, which is visible at the shoulder seam. However, the original material has been retained, so it could be restored to its original length if desired. Please scroll down for the exact measurements.
