DESCRIPTION
This suit is of Swedish origin, Stockholm to be precise. It was delivered in February 1961 by AB Ströms Herrekipering, one of the very few traditional men’s outfitters still operating in Stockholm today. It is tailored in a grey cloth with a subtle large-scale check pattern. A very well-balanced fabric, with a pattern that is clearly visible without being overpowering.
The jacket is single-breasted with a three-button fastening. It features horizontal welt front pockets and a breast pocket. There is a buttonhole in the left lapel. The back is straight and closed, with no vent. The cuffs have neither buttons nor stitched buttonholes, making any potential sleeve-length alteration straightforward. Internally, the jacket is fully lined and has a total of three inside pockets: one large pocket on each side and a smaller one on the left-hand side.
The trousers have double forward pleats and vertical front pockets. They feature a zip fly and belt loops. On the inside of the waistband there are buttons for braces. At the back there is one pocket on each side, both with button closures.
As for condition, the overall impression is good; however, on closer inspection a number of minor defects can be found, which we outline below. The middle buttonhole on the jacket shows signs of wear. There is some discolouration to the lining, in both the jacket and the trousers. The collar is also slightly discoloured at the back of the neck, which is fairly typical of older jackets. One pocket lining is also damaged. None of these issues has any direct impact on the overall appearance. There is, however, one defect that may have an impact: damage located at the very bottom of one trouser leg. This makes it impossible to let the trousers down to gain additional length. Please study the photographs carefully and form your own opinion of the condition.
SIZE
In terms of sizing, it corresponds to a modern EU 48 (US/UK 38). The trouser waist can be let out by a few centimetres if required; as mentioned above, the length cannot be increased. Please scroll down for exact measurements and seam allowances.
