SWEDISH 1945 MIDNIGHT BLUE BESPOKE DINNER SUIT BY BRÖDERNA WILUND. SIZE CA EU 46-48 (US/UK 36-38)

DESCRIPTION

This dinner suit is of Swedish origin and was delivered on 7 September 1945 by the tailoring firm Bröderna Wilund of Uppsala. It is made from a midnight blue wool cloth with a subtle pinstripe pattern. The colour of the cloth contrasts beautifully with the jet-black silk lapels and the silk side braiding on the trousers. At this time, dinner suits in colours other than black were highly unusual in Sweden.

The dinner jacket is double-breasted with a single functional row of buttons. It features horizontal piped front pockets and a breast pocket. There is a buttonhole on the left lapel. The lapels are peaked and faced in black silk. The sleeves are finished with three buttons. The back is straight and closed, with no vents. Internally, the jacket is fully lined and has two inside pockets, one on each side.

The trousers feature double forward pleats, vertical front creases, and brace buttons on the outside of the waistband. They fasten with a button fly. At the back, there is one pocket on each side, both with button closures. The trousers have a fishtail back, meaning the waistband is open at the centre back.

With regard to condition, there are some minor issues that should be noted. These mainly consist of a number of small holes in the cloth of the jacket. There is also some discolouration and a discreet repair near one of the front pockets. The trousers show a slight sheen from wear. The price has been set with these issues taken into account. All defects are documented in the photographs; please study the images carefully to form your own assessment of the condition.

The dinner jacket corresponds to a modern EU 46–48 (UK/US 36–38). The trousers are slightly larger at the waist, measuring approximately EU 48 (UK/US 38), but the waist could easily be taken in if required. Please scroll down for exact measurements and seam allowances.
