This elegant smoking jacket is of Swedish origin and was made by Henry Törnsten, at the time a well-known men’s outfitter and tailor in Gothenburg. It is tailored from a wool fabric with a distinctive green hue, with matching green passementerie.
The jacket is double-breasted with three rows of buttons. At the waist, it features a belt held in place by two belt loops. It has external horizontal front pockets as well as a breast pocket. The jacket is finished with a shawl collar. The back is closed, meaning it has no vent. The shoulders are lightly structured, giving the garment a distinct silhouette.
The condition is very good, with no issues that detract from the overall impression. One minor note is that one of the tassel ends on the belt has lost some of the threads that give it its characteristic shape. Please study the photographs carefully to form your own assessment of the condition.
