DESCRIPTION
This morning coat is not dated, but it is of Swedish origin, having been made by the firm Herm. Reiner of Munkfors, a small town in central Sweden. It was most likely tailored sometime during the 1920s, although it may date from slightly earlier. It is made from a densely woven black wool cloth, typical of the period.
The coat fastens with two cloth-covered buttons and features a slightly slanted breast pocket. The left lapel has a buttonhole. The cuffs are finished with three cloth-covered buttons matching those on the front. At the back, the coat has two buttons at the waist and a deep centre vent extending from the waist. The interior is fully lined and fitted with an inside pocket on the right-hand side. On the left is a vertical pocket with its opening running along the edge of the lining, a common feature on this type of garment. The sleeves are lined with a striped wool fabric.
The condition is very good. There is really only one point worth mentioning: one of the buttons on a cuff is damaged. There is also very slight discolouration to the lining around the underarms. Please examine the photographs carefully and form your own assessment of the condition.
