1930S/1940S CHOCOLATE BROWN FEDORA HAT BY DUPONT. SIZE EU 55

DESCRIPTION 

The country of origin of this hat is unknown. It is marked “Dupont”, and to our knowledge there is no hat manufacturer by that name; it is most likely simply a brand name. By studying the hat, one may conclude that it was most probably produced in Czechoslovakia, Austria, or Italy, although this cannot be stated with certainty. What is certain, however, is that it was imported into Sweden and sold new in Stockholm by the shop Carl Dahlborg.

In colour, it is a rich chocolate brown and features both a hatband and edge binding in a matching brown tone. The interior is lined with a light silk fabric bearing both the Dupont logo and the importer’s logo. Both logos are also present on the light brown leather sweatband.

As for condition, the overall impression is good, although there are a couple of points to note: there is some discolouration to the lining, as well as a few marks on the sweatband. None of this is visible when the hat is worn, and externally it is close to being in perfect condition. All in all, a very fine hat. Please study the photographs carefully and form your own opinion of the condition.
