DESCRIPTION
This fine suiting fabric bears a label written in Swedish, which states that the fabric was imported. The country of origin is not specified; however, this most likely indicates that the fabric is of British origin, and we have therefore chosen to describe it as “British”. We estimate its age to be the 1930s or 1940s. In colour it is dark brown, with a warm tone that carries a subtle hint of purple. The fabric features a chalk stripe pattern, with a grey stripe running every 3 centimetres, discreet yet clearly defined.

Most of the vintage suiting and coating fabrics sold here are either of Swedish, British or German origin.
They are typically heavier than suiting fabrics of today, and because of the higher weight (thicker weave) they behave differently when worn. This is the reason reproduction clothing using modern fabric is so easily identified as reproduction. And this makes true vintage suiting fabrics sought after not only by vintage enthousists but also by filmmakers or anyone else who wants as much realism as possible. The quality is of very high standard in general.
Regarding the weight, please note that the weight stated in ounzes refers to the weight per length meter, which is 1.5 meters. We use this value to make in easier for buyers to compare the weight with fabrics from modern producers, as they use this value in general to accounce the weight of their fabrics.
