DESCRIPTION

Judging by the stamp, this cloth is of British origin. In appearance, it is what we would consider the quintessential 1940s suit cloth. It is easy to imagine a two-piece double-breasted suit from the mid-1940s made in this very fabric. The colour is charcoal, with chalk stripes spaced at 2.5 cm (one inch) intervals.

WEIGHT MATERIAL

Most of the vintage suiting and coating fabrics sold here are either of Swedish, British or German origin.

They are typically heavier than suiting fabrics of today, and because of the higher weight (thicker weave) they behave differently when worn. This is the reason reproduction clothing using modern fabric is so easily identified as reproduction. And this makes true vintage suiting fabrics sought after not only by vintage enthousists but also by filmmakers or anyone else who wants as much realism as possible. The quality is of very high standard in general.

Regarding the weight, please note that the weight stated in ounzes refers to the weight per length meter, which is 1.5 meters. We use this value to make in easier for buyers to compare the weight with fabrics from modern producers, as they use this value in general to accounce the weight of their fabrics.
