SWEDISH 1960S NAVY BLUE TWO PIECE DOUBLE BREASTED SUIT BY TIGER. SIZE CA EU 46 (US/UK 36)

DESCRIPTION

This suit is of Swedish origin and was sold new sometime during the 1960s at Olssons Herr, a menswear shop in Trollhättan. It is by Tiger, one of the best-known Swedish ready-to-wear labels. It is dark blue in colour and its design is typical of the period, with several characteristic details that we will describe below.

The jacket is double-breasted and fastens with four buttons, giving it a high button stance. The buttons are covered in matching cloth. It has horizontal front pockets with flaps and a breast pocket. There is a buttonhole in the left lapel. The cuffs have four buttons, also cloth-covered. At the back, the jacket is straight-cut and has a single vent. Internally, it is fully lined and has three internal pockets: one large pocket on each side, as well as a smaller pencil pocket on the left-hand side.

The trousers have slanted front pockets and a zip fly. At the back, there is a larger pocket on the right-hand side with a button fastening. On the left-hand side, there is a smaller pencil pocket.

The condition is excellent, with no notable defects. Judging by its condition, the suit has seen little use. All in all, this is a very characteristic suit of its period, with its cloth-covered buttons and high button stance. One detail worth noting is that it is made from 100% wool, which is not the case with many suits from this period and of this particular style. SIZE

The sizing is somewhat tricky. The jacket's chest measurement corresponds to a modern EU 46 (US/UK 36), and both the jacket and trousers also suggest this size in terms of length. However, the waist measurement of the trousers corresponds to only an EU 42 (US/UK 32). There is some extra material available to let out the waist, which would bring it to somewhere between an EU 44 (US/UK 34) and an EU 46 (US/UK 36). The wearer should therefore be a slim EU 46 (US/UK 36) for the suit to fit properly as a whole. Please scroll down for exact measurements and seam allowances.
