SWEDISH 1940S/1950S PIGEON BLUE SUIT BY GROLL. SIZE CA EU 58 SHORT (US/UK 48 SHORT)

DESCRIPTION

This suit is of Swedish origin and was sold new at Groll, a well-known shop formerly located in Stockholm's Old Town. The shop is best known for its workwear and leather jackets. The colour is what we would describe as pigeon blue, and the cloth has a slight mélange effect with a beige undertone.

The jacket is single-breasted and fastens with three buttons. It has horizontal front pockets with flaps and a breast pocket. There is a buttonhole in the left lapel. At the back, the jacket is straight-cut and has a single vent. Internally, it is fully lined and has three internal pockets: one large pocket on each side, plus a smaller pocket on the left-hand side.

The trousers have double pleats, slightly slanted front pockets and a zip fly. They have belt loops. At the back, there is a pocket on each side, both with flaps and button fastenings.

The overall impression of the condition is good, although closer inspection reveals a number of defects. These mainly consist of discolouration to the lining, but there are also a few minor issues on the exterior. There is a small area of damage to the cloth near the fly, and visible wear to the jacket's two uppermost buttonholes. Please study the photos and form your own impression of the condition.

SIZE

This suit was most likely made to measure for a specific individual. Based on the jacket's chest measurement, it corresponds approximately to a modern EU 58 (US/UK 48). Judging by the waist measurement of the trousers, it would be even larger. However, the suit is short, with an inside leg measurement of just 73 cm, for example.
