SWEDISH 1960S/1970S DARK GREY STRIPED TWO PIECE SUIT BY HJELM. SIZE CA EU 48 LONG (US/UK 38 LONG)

DESCRIPTION

This two-piece suit is of Swedish origin and was most likely produced during the latter part of the 1960s. It has no labels apart from a small helmet emblem next to one of the internal pockets. This is the symbol of the Swedish ready-to-wear label Hjelms, from which we can conclude that the suit was produced by Hjelm. Hjelm is a Swedish surname, and its spelling is identical to an older spelling of the modern Swedish word for helmet, so the choice of symbol was probably a natural one. The suit is made from a dark grey cloth with subtle, closely spaced, fine black stripes.

The jacket is single-breasted and fastens with three buttons. It has horizontal front pockets with flaps and a breast pocket. There is a buttonhole in the left lapel. The cuffs have three buttons. At the back, the jacket is straight-cut and has a single vent. Internally, it is fully lined and has one internal pocket on each side.

The trousers have a single pleat, slightly slanted front pockets and a zip fly. They have belt loops around the waistband. At the back, there is a pocket on each side, both with button fastenings.
