SWEDISH 1940S/1950S BLUE SINGLE BREASTED SUIT BY AREVALLS. SIZE CA EU 42-44 (US/UK 32-34)

DESCRIPTION

This suit is of Swedish origin and bears just one label: ‘Arevalls’, a menswear shop that was located in Karlshamn. It was most likely made sometime during the 1940s. The cloth has a distinctive blue colour. On closer inspection, it becomes apparent that it has fine, closely spaced stripes in a slightly darker shade of blue.

The jacket is single-breasted and fastens with two buttons. It has horizontal front pockets with welt openings and a breast pocket. There is a buttonhole in the left lapel. At the back, it is straight-cut and has a single vent. Internally, it is fully lined and has three internal pockets, two on the left-hand side and one on the right.

The trousers have double pleats and slightly slanted front pockets. They have a button fly, and there are buttons for braces on the inside of the waistband. They also feature a so-called belt tunnel at the waist, meaning that, if a belt is worn, it sits partly concealed in a channel running along the waistband. The hems have turn-ups. At the back, there are two pockets, one on each side, both with flaps and button fastenings.

The overall impression is good, although a closer inspection reveals a number of defects, and the condition is not perfect. There is some discolouration to the lining, as well as a few minor areas of discolouration to the outer cloth. These might be removable with further spot cleaning, but this cannot be guaranteed. There is also a repair to the trousers, and one of the fly buttons is mismatched. The pocket linings of the trousers are discoloured as well.

In summary, the cloth is a particularly attractive feature of the suit, but the condition is not the best. Both of these factors have been taken into account in the pricing. Please scroll down and form your own impression of the condition.
