DESCRIPTION
This suit is almost certainly bespoke and most likely of Swedish origin. However, it has no labels, so it is impossible to establish its exact origins with any certainty. The cut and construction suggest that it was made sometime in the late 1940s or early 1950s. It is made from a dark grey chalk-stripe cloth, typical of the period.
The jacket is double-breasted and has two rows of buttons. It has horizontal front pockets with welt openings and a breast pocket. Each of the pointed lapels has a buttonhole. At the back, it is straight-cut and closed, with no vents. Internally, it is fully lined and has one internal pocket on each side.
The trousers have double pleats and slightly slanted front pockets. They have a button fly and a so-called belt tunnel at the waist. This means that, if a belt is worn, it sits partly concealed in a channel running along the waistband. The trouser hems have turn-ups. At the back, there is one pocket on each side, both with flaps and button fastenings.
The overall condition is very good, with no significant defects to note. The lining is also in good condition, with only minimal discolouration around the armholes.

The sizing provides a further indication that the suit is bespoke. It does not correspond to an exact size, but falls somewhere between EU 52 (US/UK 42) and EU 54 (US/UK 44). Please scroll down for exact measurements and seam allowances.
