SWEDISH 1960S GREY TWO PIECE SUIT WITH LIGHT BLUE WINDOWPANE PATTERN. SIZE CA EU 52 (US/UK 42)

DESCRIPTION

This suit is somewhat unusual in that it has no labels at all. It was most likely made bespoke, which is suggested by the working buttons at the cuffs. It was most likely made in Sweden sometime during the late 1960s. It is made from a rather typical suit cloth for the period: a small checked grey pattern with a prominent light blue overcheck.

The jacket is single-breasted and fastens with two buttons. It has horizontal front pockets with flaps, as well as a breast pocket. The lapels have no buttonholes. The back is straight and has double vents. There are four buttons at each cuff, two of which are functional, which is typical of Swedish made-to-measure suits. Inside, the jacket is fully lined and has one inner pocket on each side.

The trousers have double front pleats and slanted front pockets. They have a zip fly and turn-ups at the bottoms of the legs. There are no rear pockets.

The overall condition is very good. The only things to note are some discolouration in the jacket lining around the underarm areas, as well as a small hole in one of the pocket bags. Neither of these issues has any real effect on the overall impression. Please study the photographs and form your own opinion of the condition.

SIZE

The overall size corresponds to a modern EU 52 (US 42). It is worth noting, however, that the waist of the trousers is somewhat smaller, corresponding more closely to an EU 50 (US/UK 40), and there is no additional material available to let them out. This is another detail suggesting that the suit was made bespoke. The wearer therefore needs to be reasonably slim around the waist while still being an EU 52 (US/UK 42) overall for the suit to fit well.
