SWEDISH 1950S DARK GREY WORSTED WOOL SUIT. SIZE CA EU 48/42

DESCRIPTION

This suit is of Swedish origin. The manufacturer's label appears to have been removed at some point, so it is not possible to say with certainty who produced it. There is, however, one label remaining, stating that the cloth is made from 100% worsted wool. The suit was sold new sometime during the 1950s. In colour, it is dark grey, but on closer inspection the cloth is actually patterned and also contains green.

The jacket is single-breasted and fastens with three buttons. It has horizontal front pockets with flaps, as well as a breast pocket. There is a buttonhole in the left lapel. The back is straight and has a single vent. Inside, the jacket is fully lined and has three inner pockets – one larger pocket on each side, plus a smaller one on the left.

The trousers have a single front pleat, slightly slanted front pockets and belt loops. On the inside of the waistband, there are buttons for braces. They have a zip fly. At the back, there is one pocket on each side, both with substantial pocket flaps and button fastenings.

The overall condition of the suit is good. There are two things to note. There is some discolouration in the sleeve lining, although this is not visible when the suit is worn. At the back of the trousers, the cloth has become slightly shiny from wear. The camera does, however, exaggerate this, and it is not quite as noticeable in reality. SIZE

The original size of this suit is EU 48 (US/UK 38). By “original size”, we mean the following: the trousers have been taken in substantially at the waist, so the current waist measurement no longer corresponds to an EU 48 (US/UK 38), but rather to an EU 42 (US/UK 32). However, and this is important, the excess material that was taken in is still there. This means that the waist can be let out by approximately 10 cm, effectively restoring them to an EU 48 (US/UK 38).
