SWEDISH 1950 BLACK TWO PIECE BESPOKE SUIT BY HERTZBERG & CO. SIZE CA EU 48-50 (US/UK 38-40)

DESCRIPTION

This two-piece black suit was tailored at Hertzberg & Co. in Stockholm. It was delivered to its original owner on 20 February 1950. It is made from a plain black wool cloth with a very subtle texture, although to the eye it appears smooth and uniformly black.

The jacket is single-breasted and fastens with three buttons. It has horizontal welted front pockets and a breast pocket. The lapels are relatively broad, with a buttonhole in the left lapel. At the back, it is straight and closed, with no vent. Internally, the jacket is fully lined and has two inside pockets, one on each side. The pockets are particularly well executed and constructed in a manner that clearly reveals the garment to be tailored rather than ready-made.

The trousers are typical of the period, with a high waist, double front pleats and vertical front pockets. They have a button fly, and there are buttons inside the waistband for braces. At the back, there is a welt pocket on each side.

In terms of condition, the suit is very good, bordering on perfect. The only point worth noting is some slight discolouration to the lining around the armholes, something very common in older jackets and, of course, not visible when the jacket is worn. Otherwise, the condition is excellent. Please study the photographs carefully and form your own opinion of the condition.
