SWEDISH 1940S BLACK SINGLE BREASTED ONE BUTTONED SUIT BY WINDSOR. SIZE CA EU 46 (US/UK36)

DESCRIPTION

This suit is of Swedish origin, from the Windsor brand, and was most likely made sometime in the latter half of the 1940s. It is black in colour and crafted from a smooth wool fabric with minimal texture.

The jacket is single-breasted and fastens with just one button. While this is generally a rather unusual fastening, it does in fact occur in Swedish tailoring in the late 1940s and early 1950s. It features horizontal jetted pockets and a breast pocket. The lapel has no buttonhole. The cuffs are finished with a single button, which complements the jacket’s fastening well. The back is straight and closed, with no vent. Inside, it is fully lined and has a breast pocket on each side.

The trousers are high-waisted and feature double pleats. They have slightly slanted front pockets and a button fly. Inside the waistband, there are buttons for braces. The trousers also have a belt channel running along the waistband, allowing a belt to sit partially concealed within it. At the back, there is one pocket on each side, both with flaps and button fastening.

The overall condition is very good. The only notable signs of wear are slight discolouration in the lining around the armholes. It is also worth noting that the brace straps at the back have been removed. Originally, the brace buttons were attached to these straps, but they are now fixed directly to the waistband.
