SWEDISH 1930S BLACK THREE PIECE BESPOKE SUIT. SIZE CA EU 44-46 (US/UK34-36)

DESCRIPTION

This suit has no labels, but we can still be confident that it is of Swedish origin. It was likely tailored sometime during the 1930s, though the specific tailor remains unknown. It is made from a black wool fabric with a subtle texture visible upon close inspection.

The jacket is single-breasted with one button. It features wide, pointed lapels, a style very typical of the early 1930s. There are horizontal front pockets with flaps and a breast pocket. The left lapel includes a buttonhole. The sleeves have three buttons each, but without stitched buttonholes. The back is straight and closed – there is no vent. Internally, it is fully lined with two inner pockets, one on each side. The construction is finely executed, typical of bespoke suits from this period.

The waistcoat is single-breasted with six buttons and four front pockets – two at chest height and two lower. It has two darts on each side. The back includes an adjustable buckle to alter the fit.

The trousers have double pleats and vertical front pockets. They feature a button fly, and the inside of the waistband includes buttons for braces. Side adjusters allow for waist adjustment. The trousers also include a belt tunnel, meaning that if a belt is worn, it sits partially concealed within a channel along the waistband. The hems feature cuffs, a standard detail for suit trousers of this era.

In terms of condition, the suit is exceptionally well-preserved. The only minor issues are slight discoloration in the lining around the armholes of the jacket and some minor discoloration on the back of the neck, which is only visible when the collar is lifted.
