DESCRIPTION
This suit is of Swedish origin and was tailored by Bergmans, a large menswear outfitter located just one block from our current shop in Stockholm. The suit is dated November 1947 and is made from a black wool fabric.
The jacket is double-breasted with two rows of buttons. It features horizontal front pockets with welt openings and a breast pocket. There is a buttonhole on the left lapel. At the back, it is straight and ventless. Internally, it is fully lined and has one inside pocket on each side.
The trousers have double pleats and slanted front pockets. On the right-hand side there is a coin pocket just below the waistband, which fastens with a zip. They feature a button fly, and there are buttons on the inside of the waistband for braces. At the back, there is one pocket on each side, both with button fastening.
The overall condition is good, although there are some minor flaws visible upon closer inspection. There is slight wear to the buttonholes, and some discolouration to the lining around the armholes. The trousers show a slight sheen of wear at the seat, although this is somewhat exaggerated by the camera. Please study the images and form your own opinion of the condition.
SIZE
The suit is on the smaller side, with the jacket corresponding to an EU 44 (UK/US 34). A word of caution regarding the trousers: based on the waist measurement alone, they correspond more closely to an EU 42 (UK/US 32), and there is only 2 cm of material available to let out. Please scroll down for exact measurements and seam allowances.
