DESCRIPTION
This suit is of Swedish origin, tailored by the ready-to-wear manufacturer G. Thulin, most likely in the late 1950s or possibly the early 1960s. A.B. G. Thulin was based in Örebro, in central Sweden, and reached the height of its production during the 1950s. The suit is made from a mid-grey solid fabric, produced by A.B. Kilsund, one of Sweden’s largest textile manufacturers at the time.
The jacket is single-breasted with three-button fastening. It features horizontal front pockets with flaps and a breast pocket. The lapels are relatively wide, with a buttonhole on the left side. The back is straight-cut with double vents. Inside, the jacket is fully lined and features two large interior pockets, one on each side.
The trousers have a single pleat and slightly slanted front pockets. They feature belt loops and a zip fly. At the back, there are two pockets, both with button closures.
The overall condition of the suit is excellent – there are no damages or visible signs of wear. Even the lining remains fresh, suggesting the suit has seen very little use. Please refer to the photographs to form your own assessment of its condition.
SIZE
The sizing of this suit requires a slightly more detailed explanation than usual.
The jacket corresponds to a modern EU 54 SHORT (UK/US 44 SHORT).
However, the trousers have a noticeably larger waist – measuring closer to a modern EU 58 (UK/US48). This can of course be adjusted if you wish to bring the trousers more in line with the chest size of the jacket.
At the same time, the trouser legs are shorter than standard for an EU 54 SHORT (US/Uk44 SHORT), though there is a bit of extra fabric available to let them down.
All in all, we would describe the overall fit as EU 54 SHORT (UK/US 44 SHORT), though alterations may be required to ensure the best fit for someone with these measurements.
