DESCRIPTION
This suit is of Swedish origin, produced sometime during the 1950s by Stadion for a shop called Stockholmsmagasinet (SM) — a store which, despite its name, was located not in Stockholm but in the small town of Strömsund in central Sweden. The suit is made from a dark grey twill fabric with a subtle blue undertone, which becomes more noticeable upon closer inspection.
The jacket is single-breasted with a three-button front. It features horizontal jetted pockets and a breast pocket. There is a buttonhole on the left lapel. The back is straight and unvented. Each cuff has two buttons. Inside, the jacket is fully lined and includes three inner pockets: one large on each side and a smaller one on the left.
The trousers are high-waisted with double pleats and slightly angled front pockets. They have a zip fly and belt loops at the waistband. At the back, there is one pocket on each side, both with flaps and button closures. The trousers are finished with turn-ups at the hems.
The overall condition of the suit is very good. There are no damages or major flaws to note, apart from some minor discolouration to the lining, primarily around the armholes. However, this is not visible when worn and does not detract from the overall impression. Please examine the photos carefully to form your own opinion of the condition.
SIZE
The suit corresponds to a modern EU 50 (UK/US 40). There is no extra fabric to let out the waist on the trousers, so it’s important that the size is sufficient from the start. Please scroll down for detailed measurements and seam allowances.
