DESCRIPTION

This suit has no labels, so it is not possible to confirm its origin with complete certainty. However, all indications suggest that it is bespoke, made in Sweden sometime during the 1930s or possibly the early 1940s. It is tailored from a black wool fabric typical of the period.

The jacket is single-breasted with a three-button front. It features horizontal front pockets with flaps and a breast pocket. The lapels are peaked, and there is a buttonhole on the left lapel. The back is straight and unvented. Internally, the jacket is fully lined and has two inner pockets, one on each side.

The waistcoat is short in length, single-breasted with five buttons. It has four front pockets—two at chest height and two lower down. The back of the waistcoat differs from most others in that it lacks an adjustment strap, a clear indication that it is bespoke, as tailor-made waistcoats rarely include back buckles.

The trousers are characteristic of the era, with a high waist and generous fit. They feature double pleats, slightly slanted front pockets, and a button fly. There are buttons for braces on the outside of the waistband. At the back, there is one pocket on each side, both with button closures. The trouser legs are finished with turn-ups.

The overall condition of the suit is very good. There are no notable signs of damage, and the lining is also in good condition. The only minor issue is that the tab used to fasten the trousers at the front has been replaced. On close inspection, the new tab is not made from the same fabric as the rest of the suit, but this does not detract from the overall impression. The lining is in remarkably good condition; the suit can hardly have seen much use. All in all, it is a very fine and period-authentic suit.
