SWEDISH 1957 BLUE THREE PIECE BESPOKE SUIT BY A.W. BAUER. SIZE CA EU 54

DESCRIPTION

This medium blue suit is of Swedish origin, custom-made in 1957 by A.W. Bauer in Stockholm. A.W. Bauer stands out among the classic Stockholm tailors as the only one still in business today.

The jacket is single-breasted and fastens with three buttons. It has horizontal front pockets with piping and a breast pocket. There is a buttonhole on the left lapel. The two lowest buttons on the sleeve cuffs can be unbuttoned, which is typical for bespoke jackets. The back is straight and lacks vents. Inside, the jacket is fully lined and features an inner pocket on the right side with a flap and button closure.

The waistcoat is single-breasted and fastens with six buttons. It has four front pockets, two at chest height and two lower down. The back is straight and has a buckle for size adjustment – something quite rare on bespoke waistcoats. This is likely a specific request from the original owner. The waistcoat is also fully lined and has an inner pocket on the right side with a flap and button closure.

The trousers are somewhat unusual for their time and actually resemble trousers from the 1910s and 1920s in their details. They have a flat front, diagonal front pockets, lack belt loops, and feature buttons for braces on the outside of the waistband. They have a button fly and turn-ups at the ankle. At the back, they have a so-called fishtail and two back pockets with button closures.

The overall condition of the suit is good. There are no significant fabric damages, but there are some discolourations in the lining, especially in the trousers. However, this is not visible when the suit is worn and does not affect the overall impression. Please study the pictures and form your own opinion of the condition.
