SWEDISH 1940S/1950S GREEN HEAVY TWEED TWO PIECE SINGLE BREASTED SUIT. SIZE CA EU 50-52

DESCRIPTION

This is a suit of a kind that is rarely found in Sweden. It unfortunately no longer has any labels, but we can still confidently say that it is of Swedish origin. It was most likely made sometime during the 1940s, or possibly the early 1950s. Upon close inspection, the fabric is beige and green in a twill structure, but from a distance, it appears entirely green. The jacket is single-breasted and fastens with three buttons. It has vertical front pockets and a breast pocket. There is a buttonhole on the left lapel. The back of the jacket is straight and has a single vent. Inside, there are two pockets, one on each side. Above the right pocket, you can see that a label was once attached.

The trousers have double pleats, vertical front pockets, and a button fly. They feature belt loops, and inside the waistband, there are buttons for braces. At the back, there is one pocket on each side, both fastened with buttons.

The condition of the suit is good, but far from perfect. The fabric has suffered some damage over the years, likely because it was used for its intended purpose, i.e., for leisure. These damages have been professionally repaired and are now difficult to detect unless you know where to look. Fortunately, the fabric is of such a nature that any damage is harder to spot than, for example, in a smoother fabric. There are also some discolourations in the lining, particularly in the trousers. Despite these minor issues, the overall impression when the suit is worn remains good. Please examine the photos and form your own opinion of the condition.

The suit falls between a modern EU 50 (US/UK 40) and EU 52 (US/UK 42). There is some material to let out in the trousers if necessary, both in length and waist. Please scroll down for the exact measurements.
