DESCRIPTION
This suit is of Swedish origin, made sometime in the 1950s by Rydholms, a well-known Swedish clothing company. The fabric is British, from Hield Brothers. The jacket is double-breasted with two rows of buttons and has a period-typical button arrangement. It features horizontal front pockets with flaps and a breast pocket. There is a buttonhole on the left lapel. The back is straight and lacks a vent. The jacket is fully lined and has three inner pockets, one large on each side and a slightly smaller one on the right side.
The trousers have double front pleats, vertical pockets, and a so-called tunnel loop, which is a slot in the waistband for a belt. When wearing the trousers with a belt, the belt will be partially hidden in this slot. They have a button fly, and at the back, there are pockets with flaps and button closures. Inside the waistband, there are buttons for braces. The trousers have cuffs.
The condition is generally very good. There are no direct damages to the fabric. The only issue is some discoloration in the lining, especially in the pockets. However, this does not affect the overall impression when the suit is worn. Please look at the pictures and form your own opinion about the condition.
SIZE
The jacket and trousers differ slightly in size due to the trousers being taken in at the waist. The jacket corresponds to a modern EU 52 (US/UK42). However, the trousers only correspond to size EU 44 (US/UK34) when considering the waist measurement. There is, however, 13 cm of fabric available to let out at the waist, meaning it is theoretically possible to alter the trousers to roughly the same size as the jacket.
