DESCRIPTION

This suit has no labels, but we can still confirm with certainty that it is of Swedish origin. The lack of a label makes it impossible to determine the manufacturer. There is also no specified year, but we can narrow it down to approximately when it was made. The placement of the buttons suggests it was made around 1920 or shortly after, meaning the suit has passed the 100-year mark! It is made of a typical dense black wool fabric for its time. The jacket is single-breasted and fastens with three closely placed covered buttons. It has horizontal front pockets with flaps and a breast pocket. There is a buttonhole on the left lapel. The back is straight and lacks a vent. The jacket is fully lined and has an inner pocket on the right side.

The waistcoat is single-breasted and fastens with five buttons, all covered. It has three pockets: two lower pockets on either side and one at chest level on the left side. The back has an adjustable buckle for size adjustment.

The trousers are typical of the period, with a high waist, flat front without pleats, and buttons for braces on the outside of the waistband. They have vertical front pockets and a button fly. At the back, there is a pocket on the right side. They feature a so-called "fish tail," meaning the trousers are split at the top near the waistband in a "V" shape. There is also an adjustable buckle at the back for waist size adjustment.

Although the condition is not perfect, it is still very good considering the suit is over 100 years old. There are a few minor fabric damages, but nothing that affects the overall appearance. There are significant discolourations in the lining of the waistcoat, but the fabric is intact, and this is not visible when the suit is worn. SIZE

The size is somewhat inconsistent across the different pieces. The suit was likely custom-made for a specific body. The jacket corresponds to a modern size 46 (US/UK36). The waistcoat is quite close in size to the jacket, roughly equivalent to a modern EU 48 (US/UK38). The trousers match the other pieces in length but are clearly larger in the waist, corresponding to a modern EU 56 (US/UK46). This measurement is with the buckle at the back fully open. Of course, it is possible to alter the trousers and tighten the buckle to bring the waist size in line with the other parts of the suit.
