SWEDISH 1940S/1950S BLUE AND BROWN HEAVYWEIGHT TWEED TWO PIECE SUIT BY TIGER. SIZE CA EU 50-52

DESCRIPTION

This is a very unusual suit! It may not seem so at first glance, but such a suit rarely appears on the Swedish vintage market. It is of Swedish origin, made by Tiger sometime in the 1940s, or possibly the very early 1950s. It is made from a very thick tweed fabric in a unique color. Upon closer inspection, the fabric contains both blue-grey and brown tones. However, from a distance, it appears almost dove grey. The jacket is three-button, single-breasted with relatively wide lapels. It has horizontal front pockets with pocket flaps. Above the higher pocket, there is a smaller pocket, also with a flap. The back is straight and has a vent. Inside, it is fully lined with two inner pockets, one on each side. The trousers are high-waisted, have double front pleats, and diagonal front pockets. They have a button fly and belt loops. On the inside of the waistband, there are buttons for braces. The trousers also feature adjusters in the waistband for size adjustments. They have two back pockets, both with flaps and button closures.

The condition is overall good, but closer inspection reveals some small damages to the fabric, including one on the left shoulder. The fabric is forgiving, which makes these types of damages less noticeable than they would be on other fabrics. However, these damages do not significantly affect the overall impression of the suit when worn. There are also some discolorations on the lining. Please look at the pictures and form your own opinion about the condition of the suit.

SIZE

The jacket corresponds to approximately a modern EU 50-52 (US/UK 40-42). The trousers are slightly smaller, corresponding to about a modern EU 48-50 (US/UK 38-40) based on the waist measurement. However, there is plenty of material to let out the waistband, enough to increase the waist size to approximately modern EU 52 (US/UK 42) and a bit more.
