DESCRIPTION
This suit was made bespoke in 1948 in Stockholm at PUB (Paul U. Bergström). PUB was a large department store with an extensive clothing department. The store is also famous for having employed Greta Garbo in her youth. The suit is a two-piece set, made from a typical black pinstripe fabric of the era. The jacket is single-breasted with three buttons, and features horizontal front pockets, a breast pocket, and a buttonhole on the left lapel. The back is straight and closed, with no vent. Inside, it is fully lined and has two inner pockets, one on each side.
The trousers are high-waisted, with double pleats at the front, vertical front pockets, and a tunnel belt, meaning the belt (if used) is partly concealed in a channel along the waistband. Inside, there are buttons for braces. The fly is fastened with buttons. On the back, there are two pockets, both with button closures.
The overall condition of the suit is good, though there are some discolourations on the lining. However, these are not visible when worn, and if desired, the lining sections can be replaced. The collar also shows some discolouration when folded up. Please refer to the images and form your own opinion regarding the condition.
SIZE
In size, it corresponds to approximately a modern EU 46-48 short (US/UK 36-38 short). The trousers are short in length, so they would suit someone shorter rather than taller. There is a bit of extra material to lengthen them if necessary. Please scroll down for the exact measurements.
