BRITISH 1950S BURGUNDY DOESKIN WAISTCOAT. SIZE CA EU 44-46 (US/UK 34-36)

DESCRIPTION

This burgundy odd waistcoat has no label, but a good guess is that it originates from England. It is made from a substantial wool cloth with a velvety finish, known as doeskin. Due to the absence of a label, it is of course impossible to trace its geographical origins with any greater certainty, but its age can be narrowed down reasonably well. It was most likely made sometime during the 1950s.

It is single-breasted and fastens with six buttons. It has four front pockets – two at chest level and two lower down. The back is completely plain and has no buckle for adjustment. This may indicate that it was made by a tailor. It does, however, have an elasticated strip sewn into the lower part of the back, serving as a substitute for a buckle.

The condition is almost perfect, with no defects of any significance. Please study the photographs carefully and form your own opinion of the condition.
