DESCRIPTION
This jacket is of Swedish origin and was produced by Borlänge Handsk & Skinnvaruindustri sometime during the 1950s, or possibly slightly earlier. Borlänge is located in the province of Dalarna, which was the centre of Sweden’s leather industry throughout the 20th century. The jacket is medium brown in colour and made from soft goatskin, which was generally the type of leather used for jackets of this kind.
It is single-breasted and fastens with four buttons, plus an additional button at the neck should one wish to fasten it all the way up. It features a vertical chest pocket on each side, both with elegantly shaped pocket flaps and button closures. Slightly lower down are slanted front pockets, also fitted with the same style of pocket flaps and button fastening. The cuffs feature decorative straps with buttons. The waist is belted at the front, while the rear section is elasticated, giving the jacket a well-defined waistline.
Inside, the jacket is lined with a checked wool fabric — typical for this type of jacket and period. There is also an internal pocket on the left-hand side.
Overall, the condition is very good, with the exception of a couple of details. The buckle on the belt is worn and may eventually need replacing. There is also some damage to the sleeve lining near the cuffs. Naturally, this is not visible when the jacket is worn and does not affect the overall impression. Otherwise, the leather remains in fine condition; there are a few minor marks and signs of wear, though nothing more than what contributes a pleasing patina to the jacket. Please study the photographs carefully and form your own impression of the condition.

Sweden had a prominent leather industry during the first half of the 20th century, largely concentrated in Malung, in the province of Dalarna. Some of that heritage can be found here with us in the form of leather jackets in various styles, often made from goatskin. The high level of craftsmanship and the quality of the leather are distinctive features of garments from this period.

Renovateur Cream is the “must-have” product for any leather goods aficionado. Containing beeswax, lanolin and mink oil, it gently cleans while adding nourishment and protection to the leather. Renovateur Cream is highly regarded by leather care specialists as the best leather care product in the world!
Ensure all dirt and dust is removed from the shoes. Buff shoes with a brush. For a more in-depth clean, use the Saphir Beauté du Cuir Cleaning Lotion (ref. 0544).
Apply Crème 1925 sparingly using a cotton cloth or the Saphir Médaille d’Or Spreading Brush (ref. 2601).
Massage into the leather in a circular motion, enabling the cream to penetrate and nourish the leather. This will ensure a good layer of protection. Leave it to dry for one hour.
Polish leather with a bristle brush then finish with a wool cloth or glove.
Once a base coat of Crème 1925 has been applied, simply re-buff the shoe following wear to maintain the shine.
