DESCRIPTION
This jacket is of Swedish origin, produced sometime during the 1960s, and is made by the brand LEFA, based in Malung - a small town in central Sweden that was the center of leather production in the country during the 20th century. LEFA started relatively late, in the early 1960s, and produced jackets in this particular style, among others. However, the company soon shifted its focus to hunting clothing. This model is traditionally known in Swedish as a "bryggarfrack," which translates directly to "brewer’s tailcoat" in English.
The jacket is double-breasted and fastens with a total of five rows of buttons. It features horizontal front pockets with flaps, as well as a chest pocket, also with a flap. On the back, there is an adjustable strap for modifying the fit. Each sleeve cuff has a single working button. The interior is fully lined with a greenish-blue felt fabric and includes an inner pocket on the left side.
The leather is in excellent condition - very soft and supple. To the touch, the leather feels almost like new. There is a small crease in the leather near the bottom of the left sleeve, though this is only noticeable upon close inspection and does not affect the overall appearance when worn. The lining shows some minor discoloration in places. Please study the photos carefully to form your own impression of the condition.
When these jackets were originally sold, they were often referred to as "skinntröjor" (literally "leather sweaters"), which speaks to the fit. The close-fitting cut allows for excellent mobility, which is why they were often used as work jackets. This is especially noticeable given the outstanding condition of the leather in this particular piece.
SIZE
There is a size label in the neck that reads "54" (US/UK 44). However, the actual fit is smaller - this jacket would best suit someone who wears a size EU 50 (US/UK 40). Please refer to the photos; the mannequin is a size EU 50, so it gives a good representation of how the jacket fits someone of that size. Scroll down for exact measurements.

Sweden had a prominent leather industry during the first half of the 20th century, largely concentrated in Malung, in the province of Dalarna. Some of that heritage can be found here with us in the form of leather jackets in various styles, often made from goatskin. The high level of craftsmanship and the quality of the leather are distinctive features of garments from this period.

Polish leather with a bristle brush then finish with a wool cloth or glove.
Once a base coat of Crème 1925 has been applied, simply re-buff the shoe following wear to maintain the shine.
