DESCRIPTION
This rare leather jacket has no labels whatsoever, but we can still confidently say that it is of Swedish origin, most likely from the 1930s, and produced in the Malung area — which at the time was the centre of Sweden’s leather industry. The cut is somewhat distinctive: the hem is shaped like a waistcoat, a style that was popular on various types of jackets during the 1930s. These jackets could be made with or without a collar — this one features a collar. It is single-breasted with six buttons, though the bottom button is not intended to be fastened, much like a waistcoat. There is a vertical chest pocket on each side, and the sides are fitted with side adjusters. The jacket is fully lined with cotton fabric.
This piece shows a fair amount of patina — there are some discreet repairs and small holes in the lining. There is no doubt that this jacket has seen genuine use over the years. That said, the overall impression remains strong — it is still perfectly wearable. Please study the photos carefully to form your own opinion of its condition.

Sweden had a prominent leather industry during the first half of the 20th century, largely concentrated in Malung, in the province of Dalarna. Some of that heritage can be found here with us in the form of leather jackets in various styles, often made from goatskin. The high level of craftsmanship and the quality of the leather are distinctive features of garments from this period.

Renovateur Cream is the “must-have” product for any leather goods aficionado. Containing beeswax, lanolin and mink oil, it gently cleans while adding nourishment and protection to the leather. Renovateur Cream is highly regarded by leather care specialists as the best leather care product in the world!
Ensure all dirt and dust is removed from the shoes. Buff shoes with a brush. For a more in-depth clean, use the Saphir Beauté du Cuir Cleaning Lotion (ref. 0544).
Apply Crème 1925 sparingly using a cotton cloth or the Saphir Médaille d’Or Spreading Brush (ref. 2601).
Massage into the leather in a circular motion, enabling the cream to penetrate and nourish the leather. This will ensure a good layer of protection. Leave it to dry for one hour.
Polish leather with a bristle brush then finish with a wool cloth or glove.
Once a base coat of Crème 1925 has been applied, simply re-buff the shoe following wear to maintain the shine.
