DESCRIPTION
This is a very rare garment—a chauffeur's coat from the 1920s or 1930s. It was originally sold at the Paul U. Bergström department store in Stockholm, abbreviated PUB. PUB was one of Stockholm's most prominent sellers of both men's and women's clothing for many decades during the 20th century. They were pioneers in ready-to-wear clothing but also had a tailoring service offering bespoke garments. This coat is an early example of imports, made in England by "Aquatites" (as we read from the label). At the time, the import of such garments was uncommon in Sweden, where almost all leather garments were locally produced. So, this coat is exceptional in several respects.
It is made from what seems to be soft, supple nappa leather. The color is light brown with a beautiful patina, showing some shifting hues. The coat is single-breasted, with four buttons, but it buttons across with a row of button holes on either side. It features horizontal front pockets, and the back is straight with no vent. The sleeve cuffs have press studs to allow the sleeve openings to be tightened. There is a leather loop at the back to hang the coat on a hook. The interior is lined with a green checkered cotton fabric.
Given the age and type of garment, the condition is very good. We have never seen a similar coat in this condition. The leather, as mentioned, is extremely soft, and we have also treated it with a thorough leather conditioning treatment. However, there are some minor imperfections in the leather, but nothing that affects the overall look when the coat is worn. The overall condition is still excellent. All the buttons are original and in perfect condition. The lining is in good condition as well. Please look at the pictures and form your own opinion about the condition.

Sweden had a prominent leather industry during the first half of the 20th century, largely concentrated in Malung, in the province of Dalarna. Some of that heritage can be found here with us in the form of leather jackets in various styles, often made from goatskin. The high level of craftsmanship and the quality of the leather are distinctive features of garments from this period.

Renovateur Cream is highly regarded by leather care specialists as the best leather care product in the world!
Ensure all dirt and dust is removed from the shoes. Buff shoes with a brush. For a more in-depth clean, use the Saphir Beauté du Cuir Cleaning Lotion (ref. 0544).
Apply Crème 1925 sparingly using a cotton cloth or the Saphir Médaille d’Or Spreading Brush (ref. 2601).
Massage into the leather in a circular motion, enabling the cream to penetrate and nourish the leather. This will ensure a good layer of protection. Leave it to dry for one hour.
Polish leather with a bristle brush then finish with a wool cloth or glove.
Once a base coat of Crème 1925 has been applied, simply re-buff the shoe following wear to maintain the shine.
