This fine overcoat is of Swedish origin. It was sold new sometime during the 1930s at Sterns, a shop in Norrköping. It is made from a substantial midnight-blue wool cloth with a subtle herringbone pattern.
The overcoat is single-breasted and has a concealed button fastening, with four buttons. It has horizontal front pockets with flaps and a buttonhole in the left lapel. There is a single button at each cuff. At the back, it is straight-cut and has a single vent. Internally, it is fully lined and has two internal pockets, one on each side. The interior is particularly well finished, and the way the lining is sewn around the internal pockets is highly characteristic of the period.
The overall impression is good, and there is nothing fundamentally wrong with the overcoat's appearance. On closer inspection, however, a number of minor defects become apparent. None of these significantly affects the overall impression, but they should nevertheless be taken into consideration when considering a purchase.
There is some wear around the cuffs. This is not particularly noticeable at present, but it probably means that the sleeves could not be lengthened successfully. It is therefore important that the sleeve length is sufficient from the outset. There are also some minor areas of damage to the cloth in several places. All of these are clearly documented in the photos, so please study them carefully and form your own impression of the condition.
