SWEDISH 1920S BLACK DOUBLE BREASTED BESPOKE OVERCOAT. SIZE CA EU 44 LONG (US/UK34 LONG)

DESCRIPTION

This exceptionally elegant overcoat is of Swedish origin and was tailor-made sometime during the 1920s. There is no tailor’s label present, so it is impossible to determine exactly which tailoring house produced it; however, upon examining the coat, it is immediately evident that it is bespoke. It is made from a heavy black wool cloth and features many details characteristic of the period, such as the button placement and the low-set shoulder seam. The large buttons at the cuffs are likewise typical of the era.

The coat is double-breasted with three rows of buttons, two of which are functional. It features horizontal front pockets with substantial pocket flaps, and each of the peaked lapels has a buttonhole. The waist is distinctly shaped. The back is straight-cut and features a deep vent. Internally, it is fully lined and has one jetted pocket on each side. The interior construction is exceptionally well executed, as is often seen on bespoke overcoats.

The condition is excellent considering that the coat is around 100 years old, with very little to remark upon; there may perhaps be the slightest sign of wear around the buttonholes. This is a coat that could easily last another hundred years if properly cared for. Please study the photographs carefully and form your own impression of the condition.

SIZE

The sizing is one of the details that makes it clear the coat was tailored for a specific individual. In terms of length, it is suitable for someone at least 180 cm tall (5'11") or taller. Across the chest, however, it corresponds only to an EU 44 (UK/US 34). This means the ideal wearer should be both tall and slim for the perfect fit. Please scroll down for the exact measurements.
