SWEDISH 1940S/1950S COFFEE BROWN OVERCOAT WITH FUR COLLAR AND SHEARLING LINING. SIZE CA EU 48 (US/UK 38)

DESCRIPTION

This coat is unlabelled, but it is still possible to draw certain conclusions about its origin by studying it closely. It appears to have been produced sometime during the 1940s, or possibly a few years into the 1950s. It is most likely of Swedish origin. The coat is tailored from a coffee-brown wool cloth with a fairly pronounced herringbone structure. It features a substantial fur collar, most likely mink.

The coat is double-breasted with three rows of buttons. It has vertical front pockets, and at the back it features a half-belt and is closed, with no vent. Inside, the body is lined with light grey sheepskin.

As for the condition, the overall impression is good, although there are several minor issues to take into account. There is some damage to the cloth in places, which is well documented in the photographs. The coat also has a faint storage smell and would likely benefit from thorough airing. It has undergone treatment with us, but extending this process further would help to remove the odour completely. It is worth noting that the furs are in excellent condition – wear is otherwise common in these areas, but that is not the case here; the collar is as good as new.
