DESCRIPTION
This is a wonderfully crafted Chesterfield coat. It has no labels, but we can say with great confidence that it is of Swedish origin, most likely made sometime during the 1920s. It is probably bespoke, but it's difficult to say for certain. At the time, tailors didn’t always sew in labels with names and dates as they did later on. The coat is made from a heavy wool fabric in a dark grey, almost black, but you can still clearly perceive the grey tone in contrast to the black velvet collar. It is double-breasted with three rows of buttons, all of which are used. It has horizontal front pockets with pocket flaps. The back is straight and features a vent. The coat is fully lined inside. There are two inner pockets, one on each side.
Although we believe this coat is exceptional in its craftsmanship, it is not in perfect condition. There are a few minor flaws, including wear on the inner lining and some wear on the velvet collar. There is also a small tear in the fabric near one of the front pockets. Some of the buttonholes show signs of wear as well. Despite these imperfections, the coat is fully wearable as is, without the need for any repairs. These issues do not detract from the overall appearance, and they become noticeable only upon closer inspection. Of course, if desired, these imperfections can be addressed, depending on one's attitude toward damage in a garment that is 100 years old.

In size, it corresponds to a modern EU 48 (US/UK 38), but as always with this type of garment, the fit depends largely on what you wear underneath. A person who is a size EU 48 (US/UK 38) should get a good fit if a jacket is worn underneath. However, we believe both someone who is EU 46 (US/UK 36) and someone who is EU 50 (US/UK 40) could wear the coat, depending on what is worn underneath. Please scroll down for the exact measurements.
