This coat is of Swedish origin, produced by Derber sometime during the 1930s or 1940s. It is made from a heavy grey wool fabric with a distinct herringbone pattern. Originally, it featured a hidden button closure, but it has been altered to a visible button closure. It fastens with three buttons and has a relatively high fastening point. The coat has vertical front pockets and a buttonhole on the left lapel. The back is straight with a vent. The coat is fully lined and has two inner pockets, one on each side. Beneath one of the inner pockets, there is a plaque with the name of the original owner.
The general condition is good, but not perfect. There are a few small fabric defects, though nothing visible when worn. The modification to the closure is noticeable on the inside, where the original buttonholes have been sewn shut. However, this is not visible from the outside when the coat is worn. The condition of the lining is overall good, but there are also some small signs of wear here. Please take a look at the photos and form your own opinion regarding the condition.
SIZE
The size corresponds to a modern EU 48 (US/UK 38). This assumes that you are wearing a suit jacket underneath; if you only wear a thinner sweater, a person who usually wears EU 50 (US/UK 40) can comfortably wear the coat. Please scroll down for the exact measurements and seam allowance.
