SWEDISH 1940/1950S MEDIUM BROWN TWEED JACKET. SIZE CA EU 50 (US/UK 40)

DESCRIPTION

This tweed jacket has no labels, making it difficult to establish its exact origins with any certainty. Judging by the construction, we believe it is most likely of Swedish origin. It could also have been British, but the presence of a European size marking in one of the internal pockets makes this less likely. What we can say with certainty, however, is that it is made from the substantial, densely woven tweed characteristic of both British and Swedish jackets from this period. The colour is predominantly brown, with white flecks. The overall impression is of a medium brown shade, possibly with a slight greenish undertone.

The jacket is single-breasted and fastens with three buttons. It has horizontal front pockets with flaps and a breast pocket. There is a buttonhole in the left lapel. The cuffs have buttons. At the back, it is plain and has no vents. Internally, it is fully lined and has three internal pockets: one large pocket on each side, plus an additional, slightly smaller pocket on the left.

The overall condition is very good, with no defects to note on the outside. The only issue we have found is some discolouration to the lining around the armholes. This is, of course, not visible when the jacket is worn. Please study the photos and form your own impression of the condition.

SIZE

The jacket is marked ‘50 C’ in the internal pocket, with the ‘C’ indicating a regular build. This corresponds well with the actual measurements. The jacket therefore corresponds approximately to a modern EU 50 (US/UK 40). Please scroll down for exact measurements.
