DESCRIPTION
This sport jacket is of Swedish origin, made by the brand Collijn’s, most likely produced sometime during the 1940s. It was originally sold at a shop named Hellspongs in Ljusdal, located in central Sweden. A.B. Gunnar Collijn was a well-known ready-to-wear manufacturer at the time, based in Stockholm. The jacket is made from a heavy green-grey fabric with a subtle twill texture.
It is single-breasted and fastens with three buttons. There are four external front pockets—two chest pockets and two lower ones—all with large flaps and button closures. There is also a buttonhole on the left lapel. The back features a half-belt (action back), and the jacket has no vent. Inside, it is fully lined and has two inner pockets, one on each side.
Overall, the jacket is in relatively good condition, though a closer inspection reveals a few things worth noting. The entire jacket shows some fading, but because it has faded evenly, this is not noticeable unless you look under the lapel—the one area that hasn’t been exposed to sunlight. There are also some discolorations in places, including the collar. The middle buttonhole has been repaired. The lining has discoloration, mainly in the underarm area, and there is also some damage to the lining fabric in that same area. The sleeve hems have been altered unevenly. However, if the sleeves were to be shortened slightly, this issue would disappear entirely. Please study the photos carefully to form your own assessment of the condition.
