DESCRIPTION
This bowler hat is of British origin, made by the legendary hatmaker Lock & Co., most likely sometime during the 1950s or 1960s. It was later imported to Sweden and sold by A.F. Bodecker's shop in Stockholm. Bodecker’s was the most prominent hat shop in Sweden throughout the 20th century. While they initially produced most hats in-house, they increasingly imported hats from abroad in later years – primarily from England and Italy.
This particular bowler is quite typical of its time, with a relatively low crown and a modest brim. The colour is best described as taupe – a greyish-brown tone. The interior is beautifully lined – a real work of art – and bears the Lock & Co. logo. The cream-coloured leather sweatband is embossed with the original owner’s initials.
The condition is very good. The only sign of wear is some light discolouration on the leather band, but this in no way detracts from the overall appearance. It seems the hat has been worn very little. Please refer to the photos to form your own impression of its condition.
SIZE
The inner leather band measures 54 centimetres. Please scroll down for full measurements.
