SWEDISH 1960S BROWN PRINCE OF WALES TWO PIECE SUIT BY SCHLASBERGS. SIZE CA EU 48-50 (US/UK 38-40)

DESCRIPTION

This suit is of Swedish origin and was produced sometime during the late 1960s by Schlasbergs, a well-known Swedish clothing manufacturer. It is made from a wool cloth by Kilsund Saxylle. The cloth is brown and quite typical of its period – a Prince of Wales check which is perceived as brown overall, but also incorporates green and orange, creating a distinctly autumnal colour palette.

The jacket is single-breasted and fastens with two buttons. It has horizontal front pockets with flaps, as well as a breast pocket. There is a buttonhole in the left lapel. The back is straight and has double vents. Inside, the jacket is fully lined and has three inner pockets – one large pocket on each side, plus a small one on the left.

The trousers have a single front pleat, slightly slanted front pockets and belt loops. They have a zip fly. At the back, there is one pocket on each side; the right-hand pocket has a button fastening.

The overall condition is good, although there are a few things to note. There is some minor discolouration in the lining around the underarm areas. The sleeves have been lengthened at some point, which is visible in the lining at the cuffs, where the lining has been pieced together. The zip on the trousers is somewhat stiff, but it works without any problems. Please study the photographs and form your own opinion of the condition.

SIZE

In terms of modern sizing, this corresponds to an EU 48–50 (US/UK 38–40). There is no additional material available to let out the waist of the trousers, although the current waist measurement already corresponds to an EU 50 (US/UK 40).
