DESCRIPTION
This suit is of Swedish origin and was originally sold sometime during the 1940s at the menswear store Fristedts in Sala, a small town just outside Stockholm. It is tailored from a black wool fabric with a subtle twill texture.
The jacket is double-breasted with two low-set button rows. It features horizontal jetted front pockets and a breast pocket. The cuffs are finished with three buttons. The left lapel has a buttonhole. The back is straight and closed, with no vent. Internally, it is fully lined and has two inner pockets, one on each side.
The trousers feature double pleats, slightly slanted front pockets, and a button fly. They have a so-called tunnel loop construction, meaning that any belt will sit partially concealed within a channel running along the waistband. Inside the waistband there are buttons for braces. The hems are finished with turn-ups. At the back, there is one pocket on each side, both with flaps and button fastening.
In terms of condition, there are some minor imperfections, though nothing that affects the overall appearance. For example, there is a small area of damage on the jacket lapel, some discolouration in the lining, and the trousers have developed a slight shine in the fabric at the back. Please study the images carefully and form your own opinion of the condition.
SIZE
In terms of sizing, it corresponds to a modern EU 48 LONG (US/UK 38 LONG). The jacket is in fact slightly above that size, sitting between EU 48 and EU 50 (US/UK 38–40). Please scroll down for exact measurements and seam allowances.
