DESCRIPTION
This suit is of Swedish origin and by Hjelm, a Swedish ready-to-wear manufacturer based in Skåne in southern Sweden. It was most likely produced sometime during the 1940s. The colour is a light grey tone with a strong blue cast.
The jacket is single-breasted and fastens with three buttons. It features horizontal front pockets with flaps and a chest pocket. There is a buttonhole in the left lapel. The back is straight and closed, with no vent. Internally, it is fully lined and has one inside pocket on each side.
The trousers feature double forward pleats and slightly slanted front pockets. They have a button fly, and buttons for braces are fitted on the inside of the waistband. The trousers also have what is known as a tunnel loop, meaning that if worn with a belt, the belt sits partially concealed within a channel running along the waistband. The hems are finished with turn-ups.
Regarding condition, there are a number of points to note. The suit shows some minor stains and repairs, including staining to the lining in both the jacket and the trousers. There is also a repair around one of the brace buttons. These issues are not particularly noticeable when the suit is worn, and the overall impression remains good. Please review the images and form your own assessment of the condition.
SIZE
In size, it corresponds to a modern EU 52 (US/UK 42). There are a few centimetres of extra allowance in the trouser waistband should it be necessary. Please scroll down for exact measurements and seam allowances.
