DESCRIPTION
This suit has no labels, so we can’t say for certain who made it, but what we can say is that it was tailored in Sweden sometime during the 1940s – or possibly the late 1930s. It was most likely custom-made. The fabric is a typically heavy wool of the period in a subtly mottled brown tone.
The jacket is single-breasted with three buttons. It features horizontal welted front pockets and a breast pocket. The lapels are characteristically wide for the era, with a buttonhole on the left side. The back is straight and closed – there is no vent. It’s fully lined inside and has two inner pockets, one on each side.
The waistcoat is also single-breasted with six buttons. It features four front pockets – two at the chest and two lower down. The back has an adjustable strap, and the waistcoat is fully lined.
The trousers have double front pleats and slanted front pockets. They feature so-called tunnel loops, meaning the belt is partially hidden in a channel running along the waistband. There are interior buttons for braces, a button fly, and cuffs at the hems. On the back, there are two pockets – one on each side – both with flaps and button closures. A rare detail: there's an internal pocket along the waistband that closes with a zip. It’s unclear whether this was original or added later, but the pocket lining appears to be quite old. Overall, the trousers are very representative of the period.
The overall condition of the suit is good, but there are a few things worth noting: there’s a small hole high up on one sleeve; one of the rear pocket linings has been replaced; and there are some minor discolourations in the lining, which is to be expected in a suit of this age. All in all, it’s a lovely example of menswear from its time. Please refer to the photos to make your own assessment of the condition.

All three pieces correspond to a modern EU 48 (UK/US 38). There is some extra fabric in the trousers that allows for let-outs in both the waist and length, if needed. Please scroll down for precise measurements and seam allowances.
