DESCRIPTION

This suit is of Swedish origin, tailored sometime during the 1950s and originally sold at a menswear shop called Joh. Kristiansson in Borrby, southern Sweden. It is made from a grey wool fabric featuring a discreet rust-coloured check pattern. Upon closer inspection, there is also a subtle light blue pinstripe woven into the fabric, although from a distance the suit appears solid grey.

The jacket is single-breasted and fastens with three buttons. It features horizontal welt front pockets and a breast pocket. The back is straight and unvented. Inside, the jacket is fully lined and includes two interior pockets, one on each side.

The trousers have double pleats, slightly slanted front pockets, and a zip fly. They are designed with a so-called belt tunnel—meaning the belt is partially concealed within a channel running along the waistband. Inside the waistband, there are buttons for braces. Just below the waistband on the left-hand side is a small coin pocket—a detail commonly found on Swedish suits from the 1940s and early 1950s. At the back, there is one pocket on each side, both with button closures.

The condition of the suit is excellent, near pristine. There are no signs of wear or damage. This suit was part of a batch from the same brand and era, most of which still had their original tags attached—indicating they were deadstock. It is therefore likely that this suit is also unworn, as the condition of the lining suggests. However, since it no longer has its original tags, we cannot guarantee this.
