DESCRIPTION
This rare two-piece suit is of Finnish origin, made bespoke in 1957 by the firm A. Ahjo in the city of Lappeenranta, located in eastern Finland. It is made from a heavy black wool fabric.
The jacket features what is known as a link front — it fastens with a single button, likely a specific request from the original owner. This type of fastening creates a distinctive look, with a visible button on each side when the jacket is closed. It has horizontal welt pockets and a breast pocket. There is a buttonhole on the left lapel. The back is straight and ventless. The interior is fully lined and includes two inner pockets, one on each side.
The trousers have double front pleats, slightly slanted front pockets, and side adjusters at the waistband for size adjustment. Just below the waistband on the left side, there is a coin pocket. The fly is buttoned, and at the back, there are two pockets, both with button closures.
The condition is excellent, with no visible damage to the fabric. The only minor detail to note is some very light discolouration in the lining, such as in the trouser pocket linings and sleeve linings. However, this does not affect the overall impression of the suit when worn. Please study the photos to form your own opinion on the condition.
SIZE
The suit corresponds to a modern EU 50 (UK/US 40). There is a lot of extra fabric in the trousers, allowing for adjustments in both waist and length if needed. Please scroll down for exact measurements and seam allowances.
