DESCRIPTION
This leather jacket is of Swedish origin, and was most likely made sometime during the 1940s. There are no labels identifying the manufacturer, so its maker remains unknown. At this time, leather garment production in Sweden was heavily concentrated in the town of Malung, located in the province of Dalarna in central Sweden - so it is highly likely that this is where the jacket was originally made. There is a label at the neck that reads: “äkta getskinn” (genuine goatskin).
The jacket is double-breasted, featuring three rows of buttons, plus an additional button at the neck for fastening all the way up in cold weather. There are vertical chest pockets and lower flap pockets. The cuffs have buttoned tabs, and the waist is belted. The back is plain - it has no vent.
The interior is lined in a grey-green wool fabric with a herringbone weave, and it includes one inside pocket on the left side.
The overall condition is very good. There are a couple of minor blemishes in the leather, but overall it is in better condition than most leather jackets from this era. The leather remains soft and supple.
