DESCRIPTION
This jacket is of Swedish origin, produced by the leather company Leander Larsson & Co sometime in the 1930s or 1940s in Malung. The town of Malung in the Dalarna region was the center of leather goods production in Sweden for a significant portion of the 20th century. The jacket is double-breasted with three rows of buttons, and at the top near the neck, there is an additional button if you wish to fasten it all the way up. It features vertical front pockets with flaps and a waist belt. The back is closed, it lacks a vent. There are small air holes under the sleeves. The interior is lined with a brown wool fabric and includes one inner pocket on the right side.
Overall, the condition is good, but upon close inspection, the jacket does show some minor damages. There are a few small marks on the leather, and the stitching at the neck has started to loosen slightly. However, this is not visible when the collar is down. A previous owner has rolled the sleeves slightly inward. The sleeves can easily be unrolled, and the leather is not damaged, but you can still see where the leather had been folded. In other contexts, this might be referred to as wear, but in the case of an older brown leather jacket, we’d rather call it "patina"!

Sweden had a prominent leather industry during the first half of the 20th century, largely concentrated in Malung, in the province of Dalarna. Some of that heritage can be found here with us in the form of leather jackets in various styles, often made from goatskin. The high level of craftsmanship and the quality of the leather are distinctive features of garments from this period.
