SWEDISH 1920S/1930S BLACK DOUBLE BREASTED OVERCOAT. SIZE CA EU 46-48 (US/UK36-38)

DESCRIPTION

This overcoat has no labels, so nothing certain can be said about its origin. However, by studying the garment it is still possible to place it fairly well in terms of both age and geographical origin. It was most likely made sometime during the 1920s or 1930s, probably in Sweden. It was most likely tailor-made for a specific customer. The coat is made from a black, felt-like cloth with a very subtle twill structure — a type of fabric typical of the period.

The coat is double-breasted and features two rows of buttons, both of which are functional. It has horizontal front pockets with flaps and a breast pocket. Each of the pointed lapels has a buttonhole. The cuffs are finished with two buttons. The back is straight and features a deep vent.

Inside, the coat is fully lined and has one inner pocket on each side.

When assessing the condition, the coat’s age should be taken into consideration, as it is likely approaching 100 years old. The overall impression is good, although a closer inspection reveals a number of minor imperfections. There are some signs of wear, including slight wear to the collar and to the buttonholes — typical areas where wear often appears. There are also a few minor damages to the fabric, including one on a pocket flap. Please study the photographs carefully and form your own opinion regarding the condition.
